Role Description

We are seeking experienced General Metal Fabricators / Welders to join our team on a full-time basis in Northern Queensland, with a focus on the Whitsunday region. This is a hands-on role supporting construction, manufacturing, and project delivery through the fabrication, assembly, repair, and welding of metal components and structural elements.

The successful candidates will play an important role in producing and maintaining quality metalwork to support GRW’s residential, civil, and infrastructure-related projects. This role is suited to individuals who take pride in precision, workmanship, and safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general metal fabrication, welding, assembly, and repair work to project specifications.

• Read and interpret workshop drawings, measurements, and technical instructions accurately.

• Cut, shape, join, and finish metal materials using appropriate fabrication and welding techniques.

• Perform MIG, TIG, stick, or other welding processes as required by the project or task.

• Fabricate and repair structural steel, frames, brackets, supports, and other metal components.

• Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, structural integrity, and quality standards are met.

• Operate fabrication tools, machinery, and workshop equipment safely and efficiently.

• Conduct routine maintenance and care of tools, welding equipment, and work areas.

• Identify material defects, equipment issues, or safety risks and report them promptly.

• Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-compliant workshop or site environment.

• Support site installation or field work where required to assist project delivery.

Role Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a Metal Fabricator, Welder, or in a similar trade-based role.

• Relevant trade qualification in metal fabrication, engineering, welding, or related field highly regarded.

• Strong knowledge of welding techniques, fabrication processes, and metalworking tools.

• Ability to read and interpret drawings and work to precise measurements.

• High attention to detail and strong commitment to quality workmanship.

• Understanding of workplace safety requirements and safe handling procedures.

• White Card essential for site-based work.

• Current driver’s licence essential.

• Additional tickets, workshop machinery experience, or site-based construction experience highly regarded.

• Experience in residential, civil, structural, or modular construction environments will be highly regarded.

• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively within a team.
